CNC Machining Suppliers

Choosing a CNC precision machining supplier isn’t just about price or lead time. It’s about finding a shop that understands your parts, communicates honestly, and delivers what it quotes — run after run. Contour Tool has been that kind of partner for manufacturers across multiple industries since the early 1990s, when we made a deliberate shift from tooling into CNC precision machining services. That decision was driven by a simple observation: there was a real need for a shop willing to take on the complex, difficult work that larger operations passed on.

Today, Contour Tool operates as a precision CNC machining manufacturer serving customers in hydraulics, pneumatics, industrial equipment, agriculture, aerospace, and food processing. We’re a woman managed and guided business, ISO 9001:2015 certified and AS9100 compliant, with an average employee tenure of more than 20 years and a 98 percent on-time delivery rate. Those numbers reflect a shop that runs a disciplined process and takes its commitments seriously.

What We Offer as a CNC Precision Machining Supplier

Our CNC precision machining services cover milling, turning, and Swiss machining— giving us the range to handle a wide variety of part types, geometries, and production volumes under one roof. We specialize in repeat small to medium production runs, typically 50 to 500 pieces, with Swiss machining capability that scales 1000 to 100,000 pieces and beyond for the right applications.

What sets us apart from many CNC precision machining suppliers is our background in tool and die making. That foundation gives us the ability to design and build custom fixtures in-house, on our CNC production machines — which means we can hold parts accurately that other shops struggle to fixture at all. We’re particularly experienced with castings and irregularly shaped components that require secondary machining to achieve the tolerances and surface finishes the design requires.

We also provide design for manufacturability (DFM) support, working directly with customer engineering teams to identify opportunities to improve a design before it goes into production. Catching those issues early saves time, reduces cost, and produces a better part. Combined with our inventory management and light assembly capabilities, we can simplify your supply chain and reduce the number of vendors you’re managing.

Equipment

Our machine shop is equipped with horizontal and vertical CNC machining centers, CNC turning centers, and Swiss mill-turn centers— all from well-regarded equipment manufacturers including DMG Mori-Seiki, Haas, Citizen, and Hitachi-Seiki. Our 5-axis Haas UMC750 machining centers handle complex geometries in a single setup, and our Citizen L320VIII Swiss turning center brings 7-axis capability with Low Frequency Vibration (LFV) cutting technology for demanding materials.

Materials

As a CNC precision machining manufacturer, we work across a broad range of metals and plastics, including aluminum, stainless steel, alloy steel, brass, bronze, copper, cast iron, ABS, and Acetal. We have experience with both raw stock and castings, and our tooling knowledge means we understand how to approach each material — selecting the right cutting parameters, managing heat, and holding tolerances throughout a run.

Quality

Quality at Contour Tool isn’t just a certification — though we do maintain ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 compliance. It’s a mindset that runs through every job, from the engineering review at the start to the final inspection before a part ships. Our philosophy is straightforward: no defective part leaves this plant.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials can your CNC shop work with?

Contour Tool works with a wide range of metals and plastics, including aluminum, stainless steel, alloy steel, brass, bronze, copper, cast iron, ABS, and Acetal. We work with both raw stock — bar, plate, and billet — and castings, including complex, hard-to-hold castings that require custom fixturing and secondary machining to achieve tight tolerances and quality surface finishes.

What industries does your shop have experience in?

Contour Tool primarily serves manufacturers in hydraulics, pneumatics, industrial equipment, and agriculture. We also have significant experience in aerospace, producing complex components to AS9100 standards, and we work with customers in food processing equipment and other precision manufacturing applications. Our specialty is the kind of complex, close-tolerance work that doesn’t always fit the model of a high-volume production shop.

What inspection equipment do you use?

Our quality lab is equipped with two Zeiss CMMs — a Vista and a Spectrum II, both with full CNC capabilities and offline programming — along with J&L Epic comparators in 14″ and 20″ sizes, and a Federal Surface Finish Gauge. CMM programs are built from your solid model before parts hit the floor, so inspection is integrated into the process from the start rather than treated as a final checkpoint.
